Some find them as they grow. I started ITM Speakers on a Saturday morning when I was looking for a new job. I had just be let go as VP of Marketing at a small software company. I'd been there eight months, and it's amazing how a few soft sales quarters can turn you from strategic leader to over-priced overhead. :-)

I got a call from one of the founders of company that had just let me go (bridges weren't burned, and never light that match) and she told me that she knew I'd done presentation coaching in the past and her sister's company had a senior person that could use some help. I had the time, but suggested that teaching a small class would have more value. The next day they asked if I could teach four people in Boston. I said yes. Two days later they asked if I could teach 25 people in Philadelphia.

I said...yes, but the price would go up.

Teaching four people is one thing. I knew I could just do 1:1 coaching for four people, but 25? For that I needed a curriculum. I needed to take all the teaching and coaching I'd been doing on the side for decades and formalize it. I got it done on a Friday night to send the overview and pre-work to my future students on Monday. On Saturday morning I woke in a bit of a panic.

If I got this material I would want to learn about the company that was giving the class. I would go to their website.

That meant I needed a website.
Which meant I needed a URL.
Which meant I needed a company name and logo!

3.5 hours later ITM Speakers was born with a domain, logo, and website. ITM (In The Moment) made sense because I was teaching people to do the things I'd been doing as an actor for years. Forget everything but the words, movement, other actors, and the audience. I knew that when I was In The Moment that I wasn't nervous and I had my best performances. I knew that was also what had made me effective speaking at conferences, on webcasts, and other business related situations. ITM Speakers made sense on that Saturday morning and I was happy.

Four years later I've learned a lot. Now the company has included other facilitators, graphic artists, writers, strategists, and a lot of other rolls. It's not just presentation skills, but everything from crafting strategy, creating materials, streamlining sales processes, building websites, teaching technology, designing podcast studios, photography, videography, voice-overs, animated explainer videos, and probably things I've forgotten. It was time for a brand that represented all the things the company has, can, and will do.

INTRIGUE, Communications & Coaching was born.

I met with past and current clients, partners, and people I trusted and shared the brand with them explaining that everything starts with intrigue, and it's a core part of everything we do. The response was overwhelmingly positive and I knew we were on the right path.

We now have a brand that we are very proud of and represents our vision and mission. We are INTRIGUE and we help people create compelling stories, build the tools to carry them, and teach them how to deliver them in an intriguing, persuasive, and memorable fashion.

Thanks to everyone that's gotten us this far and we look forward to great things in the future.
